Curtis Fuller - Little Messenger (Volume 3)

$4.00

2’

Curtis Fuller’s solo on his original tune Little Messenger from the album Volume 3 (1960). Given the tempo of the tune, this is one of Curtis’ longer solos from his early years. It is one of the most resourceful solos you’ll ever hear, featuring repetition, variation, blues, and musical quotes. Curtis shows exactly how to maintain style and feel when playing a tune at an uncomfortable tempo. He went on to become a rockstar at “burnin’” tempos but his multiple-tonguing fluency was evident even at this point in his life.
